
The Trick to Bathroom Heaters That Don’t Blind You
When we’re building infrared lamps for bathrooms, the biggest headache isn’t actually the heat. It’s the light. Most standard short-wave heaters have this aggressive, blinding glare. Now, in a warehouse, that’s fine. But in a home? Especially if you’ve got a baby in the tub? That kind of intensity is just too much for the eyes.
Killing the glare, keeping the warmth
We wanted to stop that blinding flash without losing the cozy feeling. To do that, we played around with the gas fills and used specific quartz coatings. Basically, we pushed the energy away from the “visible light” side of things and leaned hard into the infrared side. You still feel that deep, soothing warmth on your skin, but the light stays low. It’s not some magic trick—we just carefully tweaked the filament temperature and the glass materials so it’s safe for sensitive eyes.
Getting the heat where it belongs
These lamps are built for speed. We use quartz glass because it lets the heat hit you almost instantly. But we can’t just blast heat everywhere. We added reflectors to point all that energy straight down. This keeps the warmth on you and stops it from leaking up into your ceiling. Then there’s the wattage. It’s a balancing act. If you cram too much power into a tiny space to make it heat up faster, you’ll end up with “hot spots” that can actually burn someone, or you’ll melt the housing. We spend a lot of time calibrating the power so the glow feels soft and consistent.
The one trade-off
Here’s the catch: because we’ve dialed down the glare, these aren’t the brightest lamps in the world. If you were hoping your heater would also be your main bathroom light, you’ll find these a bit dim. If you need a bright room, your best bet is to wire in some separate LEDs. That way, you get a clear view of everything and a safe, warm heat at the same time.
