Most people think of those infrared lamps in the bathroom as just a way to keep from shivering when you step out of the shower. But if you look at it from an engineering perspective, they’re doing something way more important. They aren’t just heating you up—they’re fighting a war against moisture. Here’s the thing: these lamps use a specific kind of light that doesn’t bother with warming up the air. Instead, it goes straight for the surfaces. When that heat hits a damp wall or a foggy ceiling, it basically kicks the water molecules into high gear, forcing them to evaporate fast. It’s a clever trick. Mold loves a cold, damp spot to call home, but it can’t survive if the surface stays warm and dry. By keeping the walls above the “dew point,” you’re basically starving the mold before it even has a chance to start. To make this work, we use quartz glass for the bulbs.
