
Stop Messing Around with Single IR Tubes
If you’re annealing Glass containers, you know the drill. You need those thermal gradients to be spot on, or you’re dealing with internal stress and broken bottles. A lot of plants start out by just buying single infrared lamps. It seems simple at first. But then you realize that replacing those tubes one by one is a total nightmare. It’s a massive time suck for your team. That’s why we’ve moved toward curved heating modules. They arrive ready to go. You just wire them up and get back to work.
Why the curve actually matters
Here is the thing: a single lamp shoots heat in a straight line. But your bottles? They’re round. When you try to heat a cylinder with a straight line, you get cold spots and uneven heat. It’s frustrating. By bending the quartz elements into a curve, we basically wrap the heat around the glass. Because the emitter is closer to the product, you get a much stronger heat flux. The best part? You don’t have to crank the voltage up to scary levels just to get the job done.
Getting the setup right
We build these modules to fit your specific footprint. Depending on what you’re doing, you might want shortwave halogen for a quick hit of heat, or medium-wave if you need that heat to soak deeper into the glass. The wattage has to play nice with your conveyor speed. Just a heads-up on the power side: high-wattage tubes give you the density you need, but they’ll pull a lot from your electrical panels. Make sure your wiring gauge and power supply can handle the total amperage of the whole module. Don’t just calculate for one tube and hope for the best.
Saving your sanity on the shop floor
The real win here is the labor. When you go with a “drop-in” module, your techs can stop spending hours manually aligning lamps or hacking together custom brackets. We handle the bending, the insulation, and the wiring before it even hits your dock. Now, there is one catch. These are custom builds. Once they leave our factory, you can’t really “tweak” them. If you change your bottle shape six months from now, you can’t just bend a curved module on the fly like you could with a straight lamp. You have to get your geometry right from day one. But once it’s in? You stop wasting man-hours on positioning and actually start focusing on your cycle times.
